Events and Races - July 2002
07/04/02 - 4th of July Criterium, Davis CA
Downtown crits are always cool. This one in Davis on the 4th of July is especially cool. Great course in a cycling friendly town featuring a separate race for Women 4/5.
07/06/02 - Folsom Criterium
Part of a trio of Sacramento Area criteriums. This one runs through Historic Old Town Folsom.
07/07/02 - Auburn Criterium
It's on the schedule, but no race link or flyer yet...
07/06-07/02 - Rage’n at the Ranch #1
Part 1 of a series of mountain bike races held at Donner Ski Ranch in Tahoe. Dual Slalom, Cross Country and Downhill are featured.
07/07/02 - Trail Work at Wylder Ranch
Here’s your chance to do your part for the trails you ride.
07/09-14/02 - USCF Master’s Road Cycling Nationals
So who’s bright idea was it to hold road races in July in Bakersfield?
07/12-14/02 - Bigfoot 2002
Held at Bald Mountain, outside of Arcata, CA. The fun starts with a hillclimb on Friday, cross country on Saturday and downhill on Sunday. If you go, could you bring me back one of those cool t-shirts?
07/13/02 - California Crusty Cruiser Cup
Maybe somewhere in Monterey County. And that’s all I have to say about that.
07/13/02 - Wylder Road Demo
Held in conjunction with the Deathride.
07/13/02 - The Death Ride
Harder to get into than a trendy LA Night Club. Did you win a lottery entry? If so, you can look forward to 129 miles and 16,000 feet of climbing as you tackle some of the most beautiful paved summits in the Sierra Nevadas. Can you enjoy the spectacular scenery while in the midst of oxygen deprivation? We'll ask Bellas Sue Lovecchio, Elizabeth Caraker and Dana Lookadoo upon their return.
07/20/02 - Livermore Hills Road Race
Site of last year’s very popular Cat 4 women’s series races. What happened to that series of races? Anyway, we do get one race at this course, including separate races for Women 3, Women 4 and Women 5. This is also the NCNCA Junior Road Race Championships.
07/20/02 - Watsonville Criterium VeloPromo puts on this race to waken a sleepy little residential neighborhood. It's a technical course with tight turns that can send riders onto adjoining lawns. Oh, and the women race open, all together!
07/27-28/02 - Rage’n at the Ranch #2
Part 2 of a series of mountain bike races held at Donner Ski Ranch in Tahoe. Dual Slalom, Cross Country and Downhill are featured.
07/27/02 - Climb to Kaiser
Another fun climbing opportunity for those that may have missed out on the Death Ride. The Climb to Kaiser was rated by Bicycling Magazine as one of the "Ultimate Climbing Rides" with 13,500-foot elevation gain over the course of 150 miles.
07/27/02 - Minden Crit
Alta Pina is sponsoring a crit in Minden, NV. Hot...Dry...Clear. Hmmm...that's all we could find out about last year's race. Word is that one Velo Bella is going because she's just salivating to do a crit! Dana, are you okay?
07/28/02 - Cascade Cream Puff
Don’t let the name fool you. No cream puffs allowed, as this mountain bike race is 100 miles long and 18,000 feet of climbing. Race list is full, but I hear they may open up a waiting list. Our own Shauna Potocky will be there. Poor Shauna.
