AR Natz Survivor

This past Friday & Saturday I raced in the Adventure Race Nationals down in Santa Barbara with my 2 teamates (Grant and Mark) that I met via the VB Yahoo group. I’m not going to sugar-coat this, it was an amazing experience but it hurt like [insert multiple bad words here].

Top 4 Highlights
1. Descending 4,000′ of singletrack at 3am
2. Watching the sunrise over the Santa Ynez Mtns
3. Running under the light of a full moon in a t-shirt
4. Surfing the Santa Barbara break in inflatable kayaks

Top 4 Lowlights
1. Pain (from a horrendous pace)
2. Pain (from 20k of climbing)
3. Pain (from sporting a chammy for 28.5 hours)
4. Pain (from not seeing a beer at the finish line)

As wrong as it is to wear a chammy for that long, I would not have wanted anything other than my beloved Hincapie down there. And that Sheila Moon bra? My friends, that’s the real deal. Endless breathability, no chafing.

OK, back to the couch and wine now.

What is this sport that forces you to race your bike in a tshirt?

agreed, tshirt + bicycle = wrong

riding an aluminum hardtail was nuts.

you started it, 5hr skeggs mtb ride.

    Hi Heather,

that sounds quite wretched and good for you.

and I though elmo’s ride was hard.
